My System Specs

Default Kraken G12 with Corsair H55 on my 1080ti

Ok , I took the plunge!

MSI was really messy with their thermal paste application, it spilled over the gpu and onto the components around it. Im guessing its non conductive paste eh... It was a bi*ch to get clean...
This took me forever as i couldn't figure out the best place for the rad. Turned out I only had one option and I also had to sorta force the rad screws through vent holes on the bottom of the case because the rad didnt quite fit in the pre drilled holes.

The temps are nice, that pic was a bit early and i ended up topping out at 44c and throttling to 1987mhz. Compared to 65c and a throttling to 1944mhz.

I think im going to need a fan controller. I have a master pwm splitter cable (1PWM to 5 x 3pin cables) which does the job but i cant monitor the rpms of each individual fan.

Im also going to swap my h60 2018 fan with the h55 fan, the h55 fan is stupid loud even while idle.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if you are concerned, see if you can find some stick-on ramsinks. I luckily held onto all the extra ramsinks/vrm heatsinks that came with various kits and coolers over the years and have a secret stash for times like these.

Yeah i have a bag of heatsinks too but im not sure i want to glue them on. MSI seems to be cool with using aftermarket coolers as long as you put back the original shroud in the case of an RMA. But glued on heatsinks might f up things. Hmmm , more research Is needed.

Gamers nexus has a video up about coolers like the g12. Essentially the ram and vrms just need airflow.

What AIO do you have that's not compatible with the g12? TBH, for the price of a 140mm AIO I would personally feel a lot better buying one that fits the g12 then red-greening a gpu that will cost you $700+ to replace (2070).

I have the 2018 h60 (received that from an rma of the 2013 version). Its current installed on a xeon mod pc i never use..
Its not entirely necessary tbh, its just I noticed my temps are roughly 10 to 15 degrees more hot since the addition of the 980ti (62ish).

I was disappointed the g12 wasn't compatible (i think its cause of the square design of the water block). Im kinda getting out of control with buying stuff for this pc sooooo...
Then i saw the ziptie video and the wheels started turning!

Edit: cptn, you posted as i posted, is that a 2080ti on the last page? That looks pretty evil scientist like !

Uh. What size? The 140mm H55 is $80 on amazon, and thats WAY more than enough cooling power for a 1080ti...

Any size, preferably the smallest. That one isn't the right model CW-9060010-WW , apparently it only takes CW-906006-WW for forrsair.
