Resolution? System spec?

Generally, both of them are good but I'd go for the GTX260 just because it has EVGA's awesome warranty and is currently a folding monster. Plus it's a tad better than the 4870.

a gtx 260 does a little better then the 4870 at higher resolution due to the bigger bus and mem.

but i would definitely go for a 4870 since there great bang for bucks. specially if your under 1680x1050.

If you have a monitor with a resolution of 1920x1200 or higher and you don't care about AA, or if you're a folder, get the GTX260. Otherwise, get the 4870. And if you find a 4870 1GB or 4890 within your price range, get it instead.

All I can say is that gaming at 1680x1050 with the 4870 has been very nice. Even Crysis barely slows it. You can get them so cheap now too - saw one at retail for like $142.00.

The GTX260 should kick the 4870 512MB's butt.

i personally like Nvidia better... if you have an AMD system go for the ATI because AMD and ATI devices work better together.. (same companies so they got online drivers and they can work better together since the manufacturer knows what he wants out of it)
