Weird Ringing

system:

Storm Sniper
XFX 680i
Q6600 @ 3.25GHz w/Lapped TRUE 120
XFX 8800GT XXX Edition
Seagate 80GB
4GB OCZ Platnum DDR2
Ultra X-Connect 550w
Vista Ultimate 64Bit

this PC is making an annoying ringing sound every 10 seconds or so, it sounds like a phone ringing.

i uploaded a video at youtube, might have to turn it up a bit to hear it, the only thing i had to record with was a kodak camera.

fan bearing?

BT! May 29, 2009 09:29 PM

i guess i'm going to have to pull the psu out and see if thats it, the case fans are on a fan controller that i have set at different settings and the gpu i have turned it down to 25% and up to 100% and the timing and sound of the noice doesn't change at all. only ones i cant change the speed of is the psu and the 40mm ones (spp & mcp).

I heard that same sound when I was folding on my 9600GT. What were you doing on your PC when that noise happens?

BT! May 29, 2009 10:30 PM

folding, gaming, idling, it desn't seem to matter, its always doing it. and i watched a clock for a minute and its every 9 seconds almost exactly, lol. going to try changing the PSU tomorrow and see if thats whats causing it. i'm done for tonight, time to crash. :P night and thanks for the replies.

close HWMonitor. I have been having weird issues with it and odd harddrive access too. once I closed it, all sounds went away
