Default Enclosure with fan?

What do you guys think? My 4TB WD Blue arrived but I need something to put it in - I didn't think it'd arrive this quick.
I was thinking of getting an enclosure with a fan - on newegg, there are two Rosewill enclosures - virtually the same price and with fan - but, I don't know what is really different about them except one has a temp reading.

Thoughts?

I've had a couple of similar enclosures (still using a 5 1/4" one for my external optical drive) and found the fans were stupidly loud. :)

Is it going to be powered on 24x7? If not, I'd just go with a simple fanless enclosure.

Rosewill enclosures? Thermaltake had one not too long ago because I remember looking at them - the model name was Max something. I am wondering if you bought one of those because back then, it was the main fan type that was around the same price but I noticed it's virtually non-existent so maybe they stopped making them? Maybe the fan was too loud? Anyway, one of those Rosewill models has a fan switch that allows the user to turn the fan off.

Nah, I wasn't planning on 24/7 power on. But, what's wrong with those fan ones? They seem to have good reviews? Also, one has a switch to turn off the fan if you want and I think the same one has a temp reading although I am not sure how accurate it will be. If I don't get one of those, which one should I get? I am worried about heat since that is what supposedly kills hard drives although most likely, I will have 5400rpm drives - at least, the one I bought is a 5400rpm Blue. But, it seems a lot of NAS drives are made with the 7200rpm spin rate speed.

I think the old(er) HDD one was a thermaltake, but the one I'm using for my optical drive is a vantec ( https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...82E16827993013 ).

I wouldnt be too concerned about temps unless it is spun up 24x7, especially a 5400RPM Drive. The Aluminum drive enclosures at least transfer some heat away from the drives better than plastic ones. I personally like these: https://www.frontierpc.com/productDe...eId=1041804583 because you can swap drives in and out super easily.

I'm with sswilson on the fan issue. I had a 1 TB in a rosewill case that I used with a Wii U and definitely found the fan audible (and annoying).

I'd guess it's a combination of the enclosures being stuck using a small fan, usually less than 100mm, and it being a cheap fan most of the time. You could swap in a noctua or something in some of them, but you're probably paying as much for a decent fan as you did the enclosure.
