Default Khadas VIM3, competition to the Pi 4

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/kh...-pi,39783.html

it's an interesting device. there's a Basic with 2GB of RAM and a Pro with 4GB of RAM. it's got a 16GB eMMC SSD onboard for storage and is compatible with Android Pie, LibreElec, or Ubuntu XFCE 18.04. it's also using the Big Little CPU setup...6 cores...four A73 and two A63's.

Too expensive imo, but I like the idea of eMMC on these as you can straight up murder sd cards if you don't watch (or use non-endurance ones). Think of it like a dashcam..

it's priced fairly, considering how superior it is to the Pi 4 in every way.

The thing is the whole shtick about the pi is super low cost but awesome. At those prices you are basically competing with the ubiquitous Android TV boxes which are far more useful if your just looking for streaming. For automation Arduino/esp8266 boards are dirt cheap.

I have to agree: What niche is this trying to fill?
And it appears obsolete (or at least outpriced) before it even hits market: The ODroid has all of these specs, minus the eMMC, and is a hell of a lot cheaper. Actually, its (from the OP article) identical in every way, with the capability to add your own eMMC card of choice...

I was thinking the exact same thing, it seems like they've out-priced themselves against their competitors for what features it has.

I actually understand a bit more about the goal of this board. it works with their tone board for some sort of audio endgame.
