Default Nvidia Shield Refresh Imminent?

https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nv...e-catalog.html

something has appeared in the console device catalog indicating something is happening. however, if the chipset is what the article mentions, that's quite disappointing. a refresh of the X1 that's actually several years old already? c'mon!

Maybe both Switch and Shield given they use the same processor :D

There is very little the shield cannot do currently, though it could use decoder upgrade (Youtube HDR aka VP9 P2, Dolby Vision and likely is missing some higher level HEVC)

Do you have a device in mind? I am not familiar with the multitude of devices but a lot of features (Such as Dolby Atmos, Netflix HDR10) are only supported on a small selection of devices.

I was referring more to Qualcomm's processors, like their current flagship Snapdragon 845? or perhaps their gaming oriented 730 or 730G?:

Ahh, yeah not sure which devices would use those. A lot of the certification comes down to the company more than the chipset imo. Now for something like Kodi or android games I am sure they are just as good if not better.
