read an article the other week that formulated TR has been cut out at the moment as all premium chips are going to the high core Ryzen and Epyc CPU's, leaving no product for a TR refresh.

I wonder how 16 cores / 32 threads will be limited by dual channel memory...

Could be an issue...but if the up to 5000mhz memory support are true, it could a way to mitigate a possible isssue.

That could be for good though : AMD could argue that whoever needs or wants more processing power than the top desktop chips should skip the middleman and go directly with EPYC. EPYC is a server product so it will have all the TR bells and whistles anyway like multi gpu capability, large ram count and support for concurrent multiple high speed storage devices.

but it would leave Intel unchallenged in the HEDT...which wouldn't be good for looks. but, if they do release a 16 core / 32 thread Ryzen 9 that makes Intel's HEDT look bad, they'd have a win.

HEDT needs to die imo. Especially when they start doing stupid things like the PCI-e lanes limits depending on what processor you put in like Intel did.

Stop castrating the desktop lines to justify the HEDT ones (cores, PCI-e lanes, etc).

Just read an article that said it's possible they are re-doing TR for DDR5 so maybe next year?

Well hopefully when DDR5 comes out it doesn't follow the same problems it's had since 1-2-3-4 by implementing higher and higher timings then justifying them with "MOAR SPEED" to make up the oh its faster though has higher clock speed. When it's means jack didly if CPU hasn't advanced imc tech to handle it.
