Default Rumor of AMD Split Up

Was browsing the other H website and found this article. Reuters is reporting that AMD is looking into splitting it's GPU and licensing business from server business. However, the article doesn't seem to address the comsumer level business.

From what I understood the consumer business will be staying with the GPU side.

This or the 'AMD is getting bought out by X' rumor pops up occasionally. Unless some hard evidence comes in to say it's likely (say a board memo, shareholder release, etc) I'd take it as just clickbait or editorial 'what-if'ing. Last time we saw the rumor here it was someone posting something about Samsung buying them out IIRC.

Of course even if AMD splits, it could be 10 years down the road, you'll have people saying 'my vague non-timed prediction was right!' (ignoring the broken clock, twice a day jibe).

Probably right but Reuters may have better sources. Given the financial performance of AMD, it wouldn't be surprising if they are looking for alteratives.

I dunno... I thought the same way about Forbes for business news, but their tech pieces seem to be mostly done by third party bloggers and more often than not come across as opinion pieces rather than fact.

So basically these major journalism sites are turning into blog aggragators?
