Especially when we have a fair bit of $$$ invested in MOBO's ....CPU's and GPU's...not to mention OC'ing.....Corsair AX series all the way here,,,,never let me down!!!! The PSU is one of the core components to invest smartly!!!

You guys are right - I've become a bit schizophrenic about getting juice to my 8 pin video card. I know what I *should* do (thanks to everyone's advice), but I'm just waffling all over the place.

Well I'm finally pulling the trigger on a PSU this weekend.

I've narrowed it down to two:

https://www.canadacomputers.com/prod...item_id=119741
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1+, 80 Plus Gold 650W, Fully Modular, FDB Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Power Supply (120-GP-0650-X1)

Was: $144.99 $119.99
$25.00 Savings

$99.99 After Mail-in Rebate

or

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...02&ignorebbr=1
Seasonic FOCUS series SSR-650FM 650W 80 + Gold Power Supply, Semi-Modular, ATX12V/EPS12V, Compact 140 mm Size, 7 yr warranty

  • $109.99
  • Sale Ends in 2 Days (Sun)
  • Free Shipping

My thoughts are....the EVGA has 4x PCIe connectors and 9 SATA. And it's fully modular.
The Seasonic has 2 PCIe and 6 SATA - semi-modular.

Are there any other contenders in the $110 price range that would be better - I haven't ruled out going with a bronze 750W.

Thanks

The focus is by far better. The G1+ is not close to the performance of the g2/g3.

A beauty. Quite the step up from the stuff you were planning on getting.

Total price was $151 and it arrived about 46 hours after I ordered it.
Was the first time I've dealt with Pc-canada. Price before shipping and tax was $123.

Alas, I'm going to have to start a new thread because when I was installing it, I changed some sata cables and ports the hds were plugged into and had crazy problems and data loss. (some drive letters changed - no biggie, but then the pc wanted to check a drive and ended up (fixing) the index. Some drives were renamed, one had a single folder on the root, (not the 50 other folders...I've got backblaze and a lot of local backups, but it's going to be VERY time consuming to put everything back in it's place.

Didn't think that adding a hd and swapping some cables could wreak such havok!
Will plug them into a different machine and see what's there. Already tried one 1TB drive and 800GB is gone.

Adding a drive wouldn’t cause those issues. You must have swapped some sata connectors around to cause the problems.
