3770k oc passed 4.5

Hey guys,

So my recent purchase of a h100i v2 has given me the urge to try and push my 3770k further than my current 4.5 ghz oc.
Ive set my ddr3 ram super low at 1600mhz (stock 2400mhz) and just trying to focus on my cpu clock.







All advanced ram settings are set to auto.

Whats annoying is that at 1.4 vcore p95 blend ran for 10 minutes with temps peaking at 71c . So i kept bumping up vcore from 1.4 to .41,.42,.43... it seemed that the more i bumped up vcore the shorter p95 ran.

I decided to stop at 1.43 and come ask the pros!

Im pretty happy at 4.5 (it barely breaks a sweat and temps at max 59c p95 blend) but you know, new bigger cooling..more oc.. maybe not?

Well in my ...cough...professional opinion....cough......you may have hit the wall for that chip. Or you may not have. Are you just pushing for a bench run or daily driver.


You could try turning off hyperthreading for starters. Tweaking can get pretty tweaky.....

Well, I want it for daily use ( daily like 15 hours a week ish ).
I was thinking i basically have it maxed but who knows, might as well give it a good go anyway!
I've put it down for the evening but ill try without hyperthreading tomorrow.

Well running 4.5 with full threads and reasonable volts is not bad, but you may be able to get a little more. Cranking up the RAM will help for some benches...think Super Pi....and such...

Yea I would say that is actually quite a respectable speed for those chips.

Yeah , like I was saying though. Im good with it at 4.5 ghz 1.3 vcore, all power savers on, super low load temps,rams at 2000Mhz(underclocked.. might just try and get that up..)

Its just this dual rad push pull setup i got makes me want to generate some heat! Plus the cpu was delidded!

the other day I was testing out an chip I had bought from here I couldn't get a stable clock past 4.2 getting blue screens anything over I couldn't even get the OS to load to desk top but I was using an hard drive with a none fresh windows 10 so I gave up also I forgot to clr the OC from the bios so I grabbed the ssd out of my laptop which had a pretty fresh install on it no other programs accept for Firefox web browser used that drive and the system fire up with out any issues then was checking the frequency and noticed that it was at 4.2 Ghz that when I realized that The OS has allot to do with ocing so I haven't try to OC any higher but to the OP I wonder if they are using a fresh install of windows when my m.2 drive comes I am going to do a fresh install then update all the critical updates and see what happens

So disabling hyperthreading didn't do the trick. im currently testing 4.6, so far so good . Started at 1.35vcore , now testing 1.33.. temps are ok at 1.35, 64c max 20min blend... sucks that i cant pass 4.6 though, ive got so much thermal head room!! jeez! ill have to try a fresh install when i have time..
