E6600 with D975XBX2...

I am building another computer. I installed a Intel E6600 on the XBX2. The BIOS is to date. I notice that I can't change the multiplicator (stay in gray shade) and it is stock at 9!!!

I was able to increase the FSB to 334 and run stable and cool at 2997MHz (with Corsair Twin 667MHz). I will like to increase the multiplicator to 10! Is there a way to do this (or how to enable this comand in BIOS)?

It's impossible. The multiple is locked an all Intel Core 2 Duos except for the "Extreme" edition ones like the X6800.

New E6600 don't overclock as well as the older ones apparently. My "older" one can do 400x9 = 3.6GHz with 1.45V.

...good to know! Thank you.

...I am use to the QX6700!

I've been wondering how the newer cheapo q6600s are doing- I have been considering getting one, but I had a feeling that I couldn't expect much OC from them. Anyone else bought one lately?

that's not true at all. my e6600 allows for multipliers 6-9 to be used. currently running 400x8.

francois, i'm not familiar at all with that mobo but a quick google search should help you out.

you can't change the multi on non XE C2D
you can change it on quad Q6600/QX67/68/6850

if you're disputing me, you're wrong. you can change the multi on ANY C2D or Quad. you just can't raise the multi unless you have a X model.

all c2ds can be downclocked not upclocked unless the board won't let you.
