The email is fake. The www.copyright-compliance.com domain is not owned or registered with the ESA and the website registrar is Dotster.com which is simply an online domain and hosting service.

I say call Rogers customer support.

What being real?

Considering that every official email I have seen from the ESA has the "@theesa.com" tag attached to it, I don't see how the "@www.copyright-compliance.com" address is actually the ESA trying to bully anyone.

That this is a valid email from the ESA. I realize what you mean and noticed that too when I started here, however its not just the ESA that uses this domain. Activision, MGM Studios, Lions Gate, Paramount, and a few others. This domain is from BayTSP (BayTSP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) which is a company that enforces copyright.

Not yet :P. They're issuing DMCA takedowns which don't apply here.

Well we will see, I emailed them to find out what the deal is, they have yet to get back to me about the issue. If they don't get back to me in the next few days I will consider it a dropped issue and move on with my life.

At least I learned that apparently game devs want me to go and buy ANOTHER copy when I am unable to find one of my discs, the greedy bastards.
