I feel like a fat kid in a Candy store with all the CPU selection nowadays. I will wait to replace my i7 2600K. I want 8 cores ... or at least 6. lol cheap as possible.

Agree...My PC seems fine to me, but if I can get a bunch of cores for not a bunch of money....

Well officially AMD has said mid-2019. I have heard anywhere from May to July.

And as for pricing, here is a chart from TechRadar showing the two different pricing leaks converted to USD

Of course take that with a grain of salt, none of that is official from AMD. But if it proves to be true that 3600X will be one hell of a buy at $260 USD. Hell I know I'll be looking at the 3600G for our work machines if that pricing stays true.

My experience so far having had a 9900K for 3 months, cooling Custom Loop:
- 5 Ghz on 16 Threads no problem @ vcore 1.285v
- 5.1 Ghz Uncore 4.8 Ghz on 16 Threads no problem @ 1.37v

By far the 9900K is the BEST Chip I have ever played with...simply awesome.... $719 CAD...
...considering the next best chips are $1200 - $2.5K ...Intel hit a home run with this Chip....

Wait for what ? ....save $200 on an AMD Chip that can do ?????..considering 8C/16T......

Im sure you could get decent results with a good 360 AIO cooler vs my Custom Loop....

Im with rjbarker on that one. Im waiting on some tax returns to buy a 9900k.
Are you overclocking your i5? I would get an Aio and push it as far as it can go maybe find some cheap used ram and even a 120gb ssd. Wouldnt cost you much and to me isn't a bad investment even if its old tech. If it gets you where you want to go, why not. Will add a couple of years to its usefulness meanwhile you can save up for an all new rig.

Don't get me wrong, I know waiting can suck some times, but it is close enough that I can handle it. I think.

As for the OP, since their budget is not at the 9900k level I think waiting is a must. I mean if the prices are right then they should be able to get a 3600X, motherboard and ram for about their price and that should destroy anything from Intel in that price range. Hell it could be dangerously close to the 9900K for like half the price.

Yea I've settled on waiting at this point. My 'budget' was purely thrown together based on the cost of the components I was looking at. In general I want something mid-range because I'll be in no way pushing the limits of the hardware so there's no need to spend more money.

The base clock/boost clock looked reversed on the 3700X.

The 2700 at Canada Computers has dropped by another $10, now at $299.
