Default IP cameras. What is a good brand ?

I want 2 more cameras.

While searching online, I read a comment by Blue Iris Camera Sofware company support that Foscam is crap.

One Foscam I bought died after a 5 years. Green picture. The other one I bought around the same time is still working.

My Dlink DCS 900 wired camera still works since 2007.

What should I get that will last years?

surveillance hw is like every other...good ones n lemons.

our most popular cameras are Hikvision...and I’ve been told TrendNet cameras are rebranded Hik at a better price. they just don’t offer as much variety.

just beware Hikvision relies on their resellers for technical support, at least in Canada.

Depends on your budget. Hikvision are decent for their price. Same with some dlink and trendent. All cheap IP cameras... are cheap if you know what I mean.

I use Lorex 4K bullet and dome POE cameras. Pretty good value / bang for the buck (way, way cheaper than Sony). Very good night vision (as they should as they are owned by FLIR). Software is meh though (like almost all IP cameras). Above that you are getting out of Chicom OEM territory and the price - but also quality - skyrockets quickly.

What are your needs and budget? Wireless? Wifi? PoE? Self managed? Cloud based? App based? There are lots of products all over but asking “what is the best” really should be “what is the best for me given these criteria...”.

I bought this https://www.amazon.ca/HDSeries-Wirel.../dp/B017L1JOX4
3 years ago with a 32gb flash memory. Still works great.. motion detection, auto record, night vision, you can program it to move around. Its a pretty sweet toy. You dont need to have a computer running to record as its stored on the flash, or they offer cloud space online.

I also have a this one https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...82E16881704032
but its really just barebones, you need to add it to an exsisting surveillance system or havea pc running to record. Its also stationary so its like a webcam basically.

My boss said he purchased Trendnet cameras for a very expensive price way back and they still work till this day. TV-IP422W https://www.trendnet.com/products/pr...=155_TV-IP422W for $400 or so. that is really old and yet works still.
I am going to purchase a Trendnet camera now.
