Default where to look for cheap laptops

I posted on the rants about my mothers accer laptop keyboard failing so I am going to try and get ahead of this and start searching for decent laptop that is maybe 400 CAD and under she only using it for emails web surfing and the occasional youtube video the screen should be minimal 15" should be windows based although years ago I gave her a older laptop which I had Linux installed on it and she loved it . just as long as it is point and click . the Accer she has is pretty much everything attached which I really wished that she would have came to me before she went out I cant even remove that battery on it I think that it is part of the system I am not sure but I really didnt want to start pulling things apart .

Would 14" work? Though I hate 1366x768 resolution. This: https://www.dellrefurbished.ca/lapto...50-169215.html is otherwise pretty decent for $373.

They have 15" as well, but no SSD and same resolution: https://www.dellrefurbished.ca/lapto...50-172886.html

You could also get a Chromebook instead if she doesn't need Windows: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product...13018565.aspx?

As has already been suggested... an off lease business class laptop would be where I'd look first.

Pretty sure that's where I got my first E6420, but I was also happy with the E7440 I got from Dellrefurb (keep an eye out on RFD for their sales which are often 30% or more).

You'd probably want to upgrade to 8GB minimum, but that's a pretty decent price for a third gen i5 from a known retailer.

3rd gen i5's, especially mobile, are pretty weak.. we've gotten rid of all the T430s at work as they were becoming too slow. I would suggest getting a 5th gen CPU (or higher) if you can afford to.
