So which one did you end up getting? I been eyeing the Blackvue dual cams for a long time. Did you install using an "add a circuit" or wire splice?

Xiaomi Yi Smart Car DVR 1080P 160 WiFi 240mAh for Android & IOS

This is the one I bought. They have an international one now so you don't need to worry about the language and it only works when the car is running which for me is better. I only have one vehicle so if the battery goes dead I'm screwed and I don't want to chance it. I have played around with inverters that were supposed to protect the battery and didn't. If I didn't have 2 young children I would take the risk but I don't need my wife in a bad situation because Dad wanted recordings for parking and hit & run's.

This thing works as advertised and the one you mentioned has had some bad user reviews.

Let me see if I can get a video posted here via my google drive.

You didn't manage to find a back up battery similar to the Blackvue Power Magic Battery Pack?

https://www.blackvue.com/power-magic...-0ad7b49f-b495

I'm still on the fence about Blackvue but when it comes to dual channel, they all seem about the same.

See if this works.
Dash cam edit. *** try downloading it top right corner with the Arrow down link*** The quality is much better. There might be a 1080p option too.

Vimeo Link

A little commentary. Normally if someone cuts me off and then fingers me like I ****** up I generally do a little 'ahem" driver exchange. I never fingered this guy once but when he basically fingered me for 5 or 6 blocks then I got pissed off and the rest you'll see in the video. Normally I do the double hand palms up WTF bud? and carry on with my day... either someone says sorry or they do what this ******* knucklehead does... If my car wasn't already written off from hail damage I might have let him hit me and really made his day horrible.

I hope I don't see him again on the road but I feel bad for everyone else who has to deal with his shit.

This is all 1080p 60fps so the video is actually pretty smooth and the quality isn't horrible all things considered.

There isn't anything for the camera I bought that I know of. Short of wiring up a dedicated plug port or USB port I'm not sure how I would accomplish this.

As far as your blackvue is concerned I would spend some time reading the bad reviews too. There were a lot of complaints about software and support etc.

edit: my bad I should have clicked the link I figured it was for the blackvue camera. That thing looks like it would work with any sort of camera although mine continuously records as long as it's powered up. I think the blackvue has motion sensing.

I'm still waiting to hear back. The original officer asked me to save the video for now and they'll find him eventually.

Ah yes. Alberta drivers at their finest.

Guess I better buy a few cams for my cars before the move. *sigh*

Edit: Hows the night driving image on that cam cls? Its been a while since I did research in to cams. I think I was looking at the G1W or A119 last time I debated getting one of these.

The night cam is pretty good I'll pull some video for ya in the next few days if I can. I need to start teaching my wife to drive at night anyway.

It looks like the Blackvue battery pack I posted doesn't work with all cameras. It looks like the power output is only 2 wire so it can't tell the difference between constant 12v or switch 12v. Looking at Blackboxmycar, there's another battery that does support 3 wire output. Also, a new LG unit is out but no reviews on Dashcam Talk.
