Exactly, its not a cell phone, it's not a mp3 player, it's not a video player, it's not a calculator and it is not a computer also

I'm pretty sure here that's it's either a language barrier problem or a blatant will to not understand something on your side if you are still arguying that it's a computer.

I know most of you are hardware guys (as in computer hardware) and some of you are pretty much limited to it, but you have to open a bit more your mind and see what that thing really is as an entity, not just a vulgar amalgam of computer/electronic parts that are either not the best or fastest on the market. :thumb:

You're right, it's too big to be a PMP, can't make cell phone calls, is too expensive as a video player (and no DVD slot, or SD card slot... or anything slot) , too expensive and big to be a calculator, and too underpowered to be a computer.

It can't do anything better than anything else. Jack of all (well, most) trades, master of none.

So tell me, how is this not classified as a tablet pc if the entire tech world is calling it one?

I can't really argue in english about that, but the closest analogy that I could give you is in french.

Why do you think in french we have the -utter most- retarded terms to describe anything in 'computers' like "pourriel" and "ameconage" and also all the things around us are really dumbed down and made easy for anyone? Also why do you think that all the computer stores are still spitting on linux, osx and just praising MS even if it's pure shit (having worked in one I can assure you it's true)? Also why do you think that wherever you go "IT" and computer science seemed to be redefined by so called "experts"?

Simple:

In a nutshell, the market wants to hear something and the bigger players of that market (FS, bestbuys, big hardware/software sites, etc) modify their views on almost anything that could give them the most attention possible whatever the consequence might be after.
Then even after making a mistake the so called "experts" will keep telling you the nice lies and of course tell you -what to think- to make you believe whatever they want after... but there is exactly where you have to draw the line and let other uninformed people keep listening and keep thinking what those "experts" tell them and you start forming your real opinion and be informed about the right thing.

I'm sure that paragraph might be quite hard to understand because of my lack of good english =/ (sorry if it is). It's the resume of my opinion and I could go on for hours about that and especially "experts"... :blarg:

As far as I can tell there is no way to use a USB stick.... period. SD card at most with an optional adapter.

The screen is good for videos+pictures (IPS panel = :thumb: ) but for e-books a glossy LCD screen is simply not comparable to a REAL e-book reader.

Talk about it like that and again a net/notebook still has all the same functionality.

The iPad is not a computer. It's a jumbo-sized iPod Touch which is priced the same as real computers that can do more stuff. Hence why many people don't see a valid reason for its existence. Why buy an iPad when you can get a laptop for the same price? It just doesn't make any sense.

-Flash will die (and should have died a long time ago... damned piece of pure adobe *@$& :blarg: )
-Multitasking is for computers, not information appliance. It's a bit of the UNIX spirit, do one thing and do it well.
-Camera, I would say yes and no to that. Yes it's usefull for having a multi-purpose machine, but again not that usefull for the projected use of the ipad.
-3G speed... well *G is shit to begin with so I wouldn't have expected much as well in that departement :haha:
-USB drive, no. Again it's not a computer and shouldn't require to have one. Sure it's usefull, but for a computer...

Flash aint dieing for a while yet. HMTL 5 just doesnt have the developer tools that flash has.
Yeah so you dont want to listen to music while surfing the web do ya? Hmmm? Thats two things that go well together. What about DL'ing a itune vid while wathcing another one....or etc etc. Multi-tasking IS important.
Damn near everything computer related has a USB plug on it. Might not be a full size but the mini USB plugs are damn near ubiquitous....except on the the iTurd that is.
IPS are good screens....BUT IPS glossy screens are not good for reading on in daylight. Glossy screens suck for outdoors use and IF you are indoors why the hell arent you on a laptop or netbook?!
Sure they are selling. BUT are they going to continue to sell once the fanboi factor is done? THAT is what separates a sales winner from a flash in the pan.
