A thread necro : what is the best driver to fold with for the gtx 980 ti, in Windows of course? I mean I want the system usable for other tasks, like watching movies or browsing, not just folding. Or should I do it under Linux? I got Linux mint 17.3 installed and love it so far.

I use the latest driver to fold on the 980 Ti's and the Titan X's

I reinstalled Windows from 0, installed the latest WHQL driver and all I got is Core 18 WUs, despite the beta flag. No ovc, and PPD production shows around 370k PPD.
Ok, I got a Core 21 WU, the 11401, at stock clocks it does 500k PPD. And is considerably hotter than the Core 18 one. However not all Core 21 Wus are highly productive, I noticed only 11401 and 11402 are giving these high scores, the rest are kinda inline with Core 18. Oh, and something else, that might explain the leeway 980Ti enjoys while folding : firing both Firestorm (Zotac's ovc and monitoring utility) and GPU-Z and looking at the GPU load, it never passes 94%! It explains why the system maintains fluidity while folding. Most probably Core 21 was written before the exit on the market of the GM200 core, and as such it does not occupy the system at 100%.
