Default Enough power for folding?

I'm running a Q6600 at stock, and 3x 8800GTS 512MB in my folding rig...

I just bought an Apevia Iceberg 680W power supply, which I had hoped to power this rig... after looking at the specs and amps on the 12V rail, it doesn't look promising...

Should I even try running this PSU?

Newegg.com - APEVIA ICEBERG ATX-IB680W-GN 680W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Power Supply With 3-Color LED Lights - Power Supplies

I'm not a PSU expert but I wouldn't trust it. It only has 46A spread over two rails which sounds weak, and it only has two PCIe connectors. I would go for at least

NCIX.com - Buy Corsair TX750W 750W ATX 12V 60A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan - CMPSU-750TX In Canada.

or better yet

NCIX.com - Buy PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad 750W ATX V2.2 EPS12V 24PIN SLI Active PFC Power Supply Black - S75QB In Canada.

They have 60A on a single rail and more PCIe connectors...

If it manages to run on boot, folding is pretty tough on your system. that PC Power and Cooling LCB mentioned is a great choice too.

I hate to say it Saber, but Apevia is bad for PSU's. They let out the magic blue smoke easily when stressed, and with all the gear I'd hate to see you fry something important.

Good Luck, hope you join the Folding soon, that is a lot of potential in what you own.

Regards,
ST

I think he already folds for Overclock.net

I'd recommend the TX 750watt just cuz I own it and it's rock solid. I'd have no hesitation putting 3 8800gts's on it and it's roughly the same price as that other psu you just bought from newegg. I know..rebates suck. I'd personally wait a bit cuz I've seen that tx750 on sale for $20 cheaper in the recent past.
