I turned off mine since a while (PS3). Too much wattage needed (200W I think) for 1000 ppd ...

I just started to fold with mine again. The way I look at it is, It's a 200 watt heater that gives 1000ppd

Or you could look at it this way, idle power consumption on the PS3 is so bad (150W+IIRC) you may as well have it fold all the time.

I haven't gotten to making dedicated folders yet, but I'll fold with any PC-based processing component that I use for another purpose. For that matter, I think everything I've got folding right now is just plain horrible for PPD/W.
  • Pentium 4 home server - 90W for 114.9 PPD
  • Phenom 9950 + Radeon 4870 - ~300W for 2650 PPD (GPU only - CPU is doing BOINC)

PPD/W be ****ed!

Really not happy that my 980x laptop is bluescreening while folding. It will be fine for a while then either overnight or during the day while I'm at work it bluescreens and reboots. I get back to my sardine can of a room to see the production and I'm greeted by the windows login screen. Sigh..... I'll try to turn of bigadv and see if it continues, cant be a temp issue its been below 70c while doing bigadv units...

try to log temps, see what gives. it could be a spike of sorts, perhaps when the fan lets go for a quick second?

that or make it auto start, relogin, the works.

also, how warm/hot does the power brick gets? do you leave the battery in it? take it out if yes. i wouldnt feel comfortable leaving a lappy folding unattended.. .:)
