On those dual boards is there a 'master' and 'slave' cpu that handles the communication with the memory? Maybe the IMC one chip is better than the other, and swapping CPUs to the other sockets or some bios setting will help if that was the case?

I don't know much about these dual boards, but just a guess.

There are assigned mem slots per CPU, and each are controlled by their designated CPU. If the chip is not installed, the ram slots are not recognized by the board. I taught about the IMCs, but since I tested the new chips with 12Gb of ram installed in the X8DAi under full Linx load, and they ran perfectly, I tend to think the chips are fine (I hope!).

So you're having this issue at stock on the SR-2 as well?

There are jumpers on the board to disable the second CPU to help you troubleshoot your overclock on CPU 1.

This is with those l5639s correct?

no, I believe Charlie has 5650. I will be testing with 5639 if purolator can finally deliver the board...

Board couldn't load the OS, while at stock settings. I know about the cpu disable jumper, and did use it to troubleshoot the board.
I run dual E5645s, or dual E5520s.

That's definitely not a good sign. Do you get any strange post codes on boot-up? I believe at the very least (going from memory) the SR-2 supports those E5520s and should support E5645s.

Are you able to run the ISO/CD version of Memtest to see if the memory is being properly recognized and is OK? That is after the 3 second to 15 minute wait, that is

No strange boot codes, the board can POST quite normally. It's the second it wants to load an OS, it then craps out - neither W7, XP or even a Linux Live CD don't work. Board #3 is on its way.

Memtest is fine (no errors), even Prime load using UBCD passes without crashing, using either set of ram sticks, or either CPU sets.
