Honestly, I rarely buy games new, but even when I do (usually stuff I got through a kickstarter) I wait a few weeks before starting to play. Everything except for Nintendo games seems to always ship with a decent amount of bugs now. Bethesda games being the worst for save-breaking bugs, but they're also a lot more complicated than most games in terms of the amount of things going on.

I'm definitely picking this up at some point. Harebrained schemes did really well with SR: Dragonfall and both the original SR and Hong Kong were good as well. I didn't follow Battletech like I did Shadowrun as a kid but definitely played some Mechwarrior and reviews are good so far.

Still liking Battletech, though it's pretty slow, battles take a long time to resolve with all the camera work to fiddle with (not bad when you're in the open, but when you have to go 'through' buildings and mountains.. oy), etc. Then there's the interminable 'travel to another system' sequences that, I get it, they want to show how long the journey is, but gets old quickly..

All in all still hooked, though!

I picked it up finally in the Fanatical sale that was posted and I have to say I really like it. I haven't played much yet, only a 3-4 hours, just getting my feet wet, but so far as a lover of the old tabletop game this is exactly what I hoped for.

The battles can be slow for sure, apparently there are some ways to speed them up by turning off most of the dynamic camera stuff in settings. Currently I like the cinematic feel of it. I like the over-the-shoulder targeting camera and having the camera zoom in for a close up as my mech moves of takes hits. Might get old after many hours perhaps, but for me it adds to the experience for now.

Biggest complaint? No support of ultrawide resolutions...

It is definitely light on tutorial or training. The UI is quite good info flyouts when you hover over something. But there are pieces of info I must have missed somehow.

When you have your mech or another mech targeted, and you get the information above the mech in the game world view, you have structure and armour, and also a number to the left - injury? And then at the bottom, sort of below the structure and armour bars are iirc two other bars. The first one is heat, but what is the very bottom one?

Yes a screenshot would be helpful but it is Friday and I am thinking about Battletech at work

Hmm.. Not sure without a screen shot, there are some good tutorials and discussions in the stickies of this forum:

This is a good thread for getting questions answered, usually within minutes:

There is a beta patch of 1.0.3 available if you opt into betas from Steam. Doesn't impact save games or anything. It does allow for enabling unsupported resolutions, for me 3440x1440. I needed to use Window mode for that res to work, and it only partially works. It is OK on the battle field but chops some menu items off in the drop ship view.

But perhaps it means they are working on fixing the UI for ultrawide.

Liking the game a lot

New patch out, 1.1, lots of community requested features and improvements. Ultrawide support too (yay!)
