My System Specs

Default 780i overheating, unstable at stock speeds

Hey guys, here's my setup:
q6600 g0
evga 780i
gtx260 55nm 216sp

My 780i is running extremely hot, and after setting it back to stock speeds, it remains hot... the back of the mobo tray and metal beside the i/o shield burns my hand. Do you guys think there could possibly be a short circuit? I've heard that tightening the hsf too much (flexing the mobo) causes that problem internally with the 780i, not sure if that's happening since I can still boot into OS fine. Thanks for any help.
