Well Enaberif was right (as I'd expected) just had to go to admin tools/comp. management to partition/format the drive. Zip didn't show up until I traded it and the CD cables but then windows "found" it and all is good. Only thing I didn't manage to do was get that Power LED connection. Only thing I found was I could steal the 5v/ground on the IR feature connector but that makes me nervous... dangerous for the board's health?

Just need another USB faceplate and maybe another case fan and this baby's a wrap. Working on it now and very happy.
