My System Specs

Default BFG Maxcore 55 GTX260 216SP

SOLD

Decided to downgrade to a 2nd hand 4870 to save a few bucks and pair it up with my amd chipset

I bought this from ncix this summer, used in a smoke free, pet free, low dust environment. Runs at 700/1400/1100 without a hiccup, I didn't try to push it any further, especially the vram since there are no temperature sensors on them. Folded for the last few days at stock/1512/stock, no errors at all. Goes up to 1600mhz but I backed it off so I wouldn't be sending errors to Stanford. It feels like the core and memory also have plenty of headroom, but I haven't found a need to push them since I'm getting good frames and they won't produce more ppd. Stock fan gets this thing idling at 40-44*C, full load at 72*C on auto. I've never ran this thing hotter than 72*C since I've been pushing the fan to 60/65% when folding/gaming once I started gpu overclocking.
9.99/10 condition, I also have the original 2x4molex to 6pcie connector not shown in the photo, can include another if needed.

BFG Tech - BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OC MAXCORE 55 896MB PCIe 2.0

$150(+shipping from Toronto), EMT or cash

Default BFG Maxcore 55 GTX260 216SP

Nice card, very tempting... Would it be roughly equivalent to a HD4870 in speed?

Pretty much, but really depends on what kind of speed... 4870 is always lacking the extra physx proc, also depends on what you're using it for... nvidia's got 100% complex shaders (or whatever they're called), great for folding or games compiled for complex shaders. ATI's horrible at folding, they've got a bunch of simple shaders that can't do nil for F@H

edit: ygpm Caldezar !

cozmos, what do you have? probably not, but let me know what you have first

I've never actually liked ATI cards because of driver issues. It's just that they are so much cheaper nowadays (especially used), and perform so well, I'm thinking gaming here but am seriously considering getting into folding... I don't have a clue what it's all about... sounds very interesting though. Did a quick perusal of the folding section last night and was amazed. Some of those folding rigs were downright nasty!

Happy New year fellas
Thanks. I kinda thought the HD4870 was slightly faster. I have a HD4870 1 Gb in one machine and it does very well in gaming. I also just picked up another 9800 GTX+ today to pair up with the one I got from you a while back. Your card is still running flawlessly

Happy New Year JK

Quick question: Will it fit in an Antex Sonata III mid-tower and will the stock power supply on it be enough to support this card?
