1 - Uninstall driver/application from Add/Remove programs.
2 - Reboot into safe mode.
3 - Run Driver Sweeper.
4 - Run CCleaner as many times as necessary until there are no bad entries left.
5 - Shut down, install new card.
6 - Boot into windows, install latest drivers.
Done.

This is the method I've always used and will continue to recommend. Why? Because It works.
