Citing an unnamed source, the Chosun IIbo reported Tuesday that Samsung was considering spinning off the business which posted a nearly $900 million dollar loss in 2011.

“We are internally reviewing various options but nothing has been decided yet,” a Samsung spokesperson told Reuters.

According to reports from various analysts, Samsung may consider incorporating Samsung Mobile Display – its LCD manufacturing arm – with its unlisted and profitable OLED producing unit.

But that’s crazy, they make such great monitors/TVs?!

seriously, how are they losing money? It cannot be that much more expensive to manufacture for Samsung than other companies….are they all losing money?

I don’t know, Samsung USE to be my go to company for computer monitors but lately they have really been dropping the ball on panel quality in my opinion. I recently bought a 3 monitor eyefinity/surround setup for gaming and looked at everything samsung had to offer in the $300-400 range of monitors and really ended up not that impressed. I still like their TV’s very much though and agree with you on that. The only monitor Samsung currently has that still makes me drool is the 950 series and even then less for screen quality and more for absolutely brillant design.
