xfx 5970 4gb 1 300x271 XFX Launching Radeon HD 5970 4GB Black Edition Eyefinity6XFX is joining the foray with Sapphire and Asus, preparing to launch a limited edition 4GB Radeon HD 5970 of its own.

Like the others, XFX is basing the design around two true 5870 GPU’s , unleashing the full 3,200 shaders, 850MHz core and 4,800MHz memory clock speeds. It also doubles up the memory with 2GB of GDDR5 per GPU (4GB total).

One noticeable difference is that XFX has opted to stick with a reference design heatsink and a single fan. As we saw with the Sapphire model, a triple fan cooling solution was required just to keep the card under 90c. The XFX edition still requires the same 300w power draw through via  2 -8 pin connections, so it may not support the overclocking headroom of other models.

The card also includes 6 mini-DisplayPort connectors to support six physical displays through Eyefinity6.

XFX is said to likely only manufacturer around 1500 cards with a expected street price of  $1000 USD each.
