NVIDIA 1 300x221 NVIDIAs Next Gen Parts Get Named: GTX 480 & GTX 470NVIDIA has finally thrown the covers off the official name of their upcoming DX11 GF100 cards with a post on Twitter.

Previously, certain members of the media falsely reported that the upcoming cards would be called the GTX 300 series which has now finally been proven wrong by a lone Tweet from a member of NVIDIA’s staff.  It seems the new GeForce architecture will actually be called the 400-series and will debut with a pair of cards called the GTX 480 and GTX 470.  Hardware Canucks has been able to confirm that the Tweet was indeed made by a member of NVIDIA’s team with the full approval of their PR folks.

While the GTX 480 is assumed to be the full 512 core card, the exact specifications including clock speeds, memory amounts and even price remain a mystery.    The GTX 470 is also shrouded in secrecy for the time being but we made several educated guesses regarding its potential layout in a recent article.

All in all, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to information about these highly-anticipated cards from NVIDIA.  Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we bring you more information about the GTX 480 and GTX 470.
