Almost as inevitable as the rising of the sun, the non-reference GTX400 series cards will start showing up in the market. First on the list however is Galaxy with their GC edition GTX470.
First to note beyond the almost industrial look of this Fermi card is the fact it comes up a little shorter, length that is. Based upon Galaxy’s own PCB design this GTX470 is half an inch shorter than the reference designed card. Hidden under the covers is a front to back heatsink, that covers the card completely. Actively cooling the heatsink is a blue bladed fan that can actually be lifted up off of the card to allow for easier cleaning.
Of course, these design changes are nice but the most important part to avid users are the clocks. The GC edition is no slouch in this department either, comming out of the box Overclocked. Core speed is 625MHz , shaders are dialed in at 1250MHz and the 1280MB of GDDR5 comes in at 837 or 3348MHz effective. Giving that added punch to an already great graphics solution.
Pricing is not yet known, but expect this to be available very soon.
