Owners of ATI’s HD 5800 series video cards who recently updated to the Catalyst 10.1 drivers may have noticed the occasional GSOD or “Grey Screen of Death”.
ATI has acknowledged the problem and released a hotfix for the 10.1′s to rectify the issue. Note, this update should only be used if you are currently running the Catalyst 10.1 drivers and experiencing random grey screens. The driver is available for all Windows OS versions.
“Catalyst 10.1 hotfix Features:
Alleviates some of the intermittent grey screen and vertical line corruptions that may randomly appear during normal usage when using an ATI™ Radeon HD 5800 series graphics card”

Update: User’s in the U.S.A may be experiencing a similar phenomenon labelled the “Gray Screen Of Death”.
