ASUS has really banked heavily on their ROG (Republic of Gamers) lineup to inspire performance among enthusiasts. Contiuning in this pedigree of performance is the HD5870 Matrix. Pretenders, please step aside.
Details of this upcoming monster are sketchy at best, however although it is based upon the HD 5870 platform its internals have all been upgraded. Said to feature better cooling construction, voltage regulation and out of the box clock speeds this monster is sure to impress.
As it stands the core is listed to be 900 MHz and the 2GB of on-board memory running at 1225 Mhz (4900 Effective). Of course that is just to start, considering ASUS will include their VoltageTweak software with this card overclockers should have more than enough tools to put the Matrix through its paces.
Rounding out the design is a back plate akin to the one we see on NVIDIA Cards and a fail safe reset switch should you get carried away or have problems overclocking this card.
Availability and pricing on the Matrix have not yet been announced.
