asus rog 5970 ares 299x197 ASUS HD 5970 ARES ROG at its FinestThe ROG Series from ASUS has always inspired dreamers and enthusiasts alike. Living up to the expectations we are greeted with a new monster. Enter the ASUS 5970 ARES.

Built upon Twin Cypress Cores from the HD5870 series the ARES is designed to impress even at a glance. On board memory will be an astonishing 4GB (2 per Core) rated at 1200MHZ (4800MHz effective). Each GPU will run at 850MHz which puts it in the same field as a reference 5970, with 1600 stream processors per Core as well.

However the real treat is in the cards cooling. With Full Copper heatsinks on either side ASUS is leaving nothing to chance on this custom built card.  Providing active cooling is a centrally located 100mm Fan that will push air out from either side of the card, although not the most ideal design in a case with good airflow it shouldn’t matter. Powering the card is where it gets interesting as the Requirements are 2 8pin + 1 6-pin connector. Although it is likely that if you can afford this Card, you probably own a Power Supply that can run it.

Availability is unknown, and if the MARS series is anything to go by this card will cost a fortune. Although its high performance and limited production run should still make it appealing to many potential buyers.
