logo intel 300x278 Intel Removes its Firmware UpdateIntel just recently released a firmware update that was stated to increase performance across the board with Microsofts new Windows 7. However admist claims of bricked SSD’s due to the update, it has pulled the Firmware download from its website.

News like this brings back some haunting memories. For most of us we can all still remember the firmware issues of Seagate and the hundreds of drives that became glorified paperweights as a result. Well it looks like now that trouble has now come upon Intel and its latest TRIM update.

With an already active support link, there have been numerous reports of people who have updated the firmware only to lose total function of their SSD. It is not however a 100% failure rate of the update, but it is obviously enough of a scare to have Intel pull the link after the first reports surface. As it stands right now they are investigating the problems and hopefully we will hear of a solution soon enough.

A direct link to the support area in regards to this can be found here.
