“I’m not dead”, or at least not according to Buffalo who is launching a 256GB SSD based on the nearly extinct PATA/IDE interface.
Despite the fact that many new motherboards have completely done away with the interface, Buffalo is expanding it’s SHD-NHPU2 lineup with the 256GB SSD that features IDE and USB 2.0 connections, MLC) NAND flash memory, a 64MB cache and can sustain transfer speeds of up to 101.3MB/s.
The drive is likely to only be released in Eastern Asian markets with a estimated price of around 106,300 Japanese Yen (approx. $1,200 USD).
This rounds out the companies offerings of other IDE SSD’s including a 32GB, 64GB and 128GB model.
