CES has yet to kick off, but Samsung has already updated its Series 7 laptop line with two announcements: new entries to the line called Chronos and Ultra.
Samsung’s Chronos weighs in at 5.8 pounds and has a 15.6-inch touch screen display. comes with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and an AMD Radeon HD 8870M GPU.
Press materials say it will come with 4 or 8GB of RAM (expandable up to 16GB), and up to 1TB of Storage. It will also come with Condisuv Technologies’ RAMaccelerator utility, which gives the machine a performance boost by using excess memory as a RAMdisk.
Samsung claims it will have an 11 hour battery life.
Samsung’s other offering is the Series 7 Ultra — the slimmer one of the two.
The Ultra has a 13.3 inch display, an Intel Core i7/i5 ULV chip, and weighs 3.2 pounds. It can have as much as 16GB of RAM and an SSD of 236 GB. Samsung also says that there will be an option for 4G/LTE connectivity. Judging by Samsung’s rush to get these first two announcements out early, Ultrabooks will play a prominent role in this year’s CES.
