Citing a secretive group of former AMD employees, Forbes is reporting that the PlayStation 4 may feature chips made by AMD.
The Xbox 360 currently features an AMD GPU. There has been no concrete news as to whether the next generation Xbox will feature AMD’s technology.
These former AMD employees told Forbes that “the processor designer may play a key role in the new product”.
At AMD’s analyst day in January, AMD’s Chief Financial Officer identified gaming as one of several trends that will drive revenue growth at AMD in 2012.
Sony refuses to comment on a successor to the PlayStation 4, and goes as far as to deny the existence of any efforts to produce a new console.
