The PH-TC12DX is a U-Type, dual tower heatsink that features advanced thermal deflection technology at a price that isn’t too steep.
To begin with, the PH-TC12DX has four 6mm heatpipes, aligned linearly and developed to have the least possible amount of thermal and air resistance. The key feature, however, is Phanteks’ patented PATS and CPSC technology it has incorporated into the cooler. The heatsink itself is 126 X 157 X 160mm without fans, and 126 x 107 x 169mm with dual fans. It has a copper composition on the base, nickel-plated aluminum fins, and allows a maximum airflow of 23-68.5 CFM to keep your core as cool as possible.
The first of the innovations on the cooler is the patented PATS (Physical Antioxidant Thermal Shield) coating – a non-toxic, environmentally friendly coating on the heatsink that extends the lifetime of the cooler and greatly enhances cooling performance. The coating deflects general thermal radiation from other sources inside the case, such as the GPU and north/south bridge away from the CPU, ensuring it stays cool and safe, and the PATS coating is able to resist extremes of up to 200 degrees Celcius.
The other key feature is the CPSC (Cold Plasma Spraying Coating) technology. Using a special forming deposit, the cooler is able to displace heat at a much faster rate onto corresponding metals. This way, the PH-TC12DX enhances the thermal conductivity on the soldered surfaces of the heatpipes through copper deposits. This allows the entire cooler to dissipate heat away from the CPU much faster than conventional coolers, and even when run for incredibly long periods of time, the PATS and CPSC systems remain perfectly intact to ensure no harm comes to those valuable cores.
The PH-TC12DX comes equipped with not just one, but two of Phanteks’ premium fans, nine blades each and equipped with a Maelstrom Air-Fort Optimization drive system to achieve massive airflow rates. The fans use a UFB (Updraft Floating Balance) bearing to enhance lifetime and reduce sound signature, and paired with the included anti-acoustic rubber pad and rubber bar ensures the lowest possible sound level and eliminates vibration issues. Plus, with full PWM functions built in, users are able to make speed adjustments to meet performance needs or make the fan just that little extra bit quieter.
The PH-TC12DX is immediately available, and is compatible with both Intel and AMD chipsets. Phanteks has an MSRP on the standard PH-TC12DX of a modest $54.99USD, or for anyone who wants to shell out an extra $5, the fan is available in blue, red, and black for an MSRP of $59.99USD. With innovative technology on board, and backed by a 5-year limmited warranty, Phanteks has ensured that this cooler is a good investment for both your computer and your wallet.
