During yesterday’s earnings call Seagate did not announce the acquisition of OCZ as rumoured, though without naming specifics the company’s CFO said Seagate would be looking to acquire an SSD manufacturer.
“We look at all technology product providers (for M&A) but what I would say is that on the enterprise SSDs, there’s probably only one of them that really makes any significant money,” Pat O’Malley, Seagate’s CFO, said during the call.
Mr. O’Malley later told Reuters that Seagate’s policy is to not comment on any sort of merger or acquisition until the deal is done.
Last week Bright Side of News reported that Seagate was in the process of acquiring SSD maker OCZ, and the deal would be announced during the earnings call.
