As Computex kicks off, ASUS has announced two new Z97 motherboards: the Maximus VII Formula and Maximus VII Impact
With Z97 gaining popularity due to its forwards compatibility with upcoming Broadwell and Devil’s Canyon Processors alongside a robust feature set, Computex represents the perfect launching ground for a new crop of motherboards. ASUS ‘ Republic of Gamers series is getting special attention this time around.
Maximus VII Formula
The flagship board of ASUS’ Z97 lineup will be the Maximus VII Formula, a product that borrows several elements from previous designs and melds them into one high end offering. It has a full copper core design for air and water cooling, a brand new SupremeFX setup that features a 120dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and a new exclusive technology called Sonic SenseAmp which automatically detects headphone impedance and adjusts output accordingly.
Connectivity is handled by and mPCIe Combo III + 802.11ac / Bluetooth 4.0, which is a compact connectivity module that delivers the latest wireless technologies along with mini PCI Express (mPCIe) and an M.2 (10Gbit/s PCIe x2 and 6Gb/s SATA) slot. As with many other high end ROG boards the Maximus includes ASUS’ KeyBot, Thermal Armor and FanExpert 3.
Expect this board to be available sometime in July.
Maximus VII Impact
The Maximus VII Impact is ASUS fully-featured ITX board that follows closely in the footsteps of its Z87 predecessor.
It features the SupremeFX Impact II dedicated audio card and a mPCIe Combo IV + 802.11ac/ Bluetooth 4.0 module with PCIe x4 bandwidth. ASUS has also included their new CoolHub which is an optional card with two additional 4-pin fan headers along with an LN2 header for ultra-low-temperature overclocking adventures.
Expect to get your hands on this board sometime in late Q3 2014.
