xtc2 main 300x244 OCZ XTC 2 The Latest Generation Of RAM Coolers

OCZ Technology is a household name for the modern PC Builder. Their latest creation in a long line of high grade products is the XTC 2 RAM cooler. With stunning looks it is bound to capture the spotlight in a very small market of active RAM cooling.

The best lesson any manufacturer can learn is when not to mess with a good design too much. Many of us have used or at least seen the original XTC Cooler. With a polished metal finish and twin LED fans, it was an eye catcher to anyone with a Clear Side Case. Adding function to form it featured 60mm Fans to help keep your hot running RAM in check.

The XTC 2 follows closely on that same lineage and boasts a pair of 60mm LED Fans as well. What has changed however is the module in which these fans are housed.

With the advent of taller and taller heat spreaders being added to RAM some change was required in order to make the XTC 2 more compatible with existing designs. OCZ accomplished this by placing the fans in a new, taller mounting platform. As well they gave the brushed aluminum a black finish. Adding to its already imposing looks.

The XTC 2 measures in at 81mm x 68mm x 148mm with brackets installed. Which should make it a sure fit on all but the most radical of Memory Heat Spreaders.

No release date or MSRP has been announced at the time of this posting. For more product information, please visit the OCZ product page.

Hey ST, I haven’t made any measurements yet (at work lol), but would this cover a kit of Triple Channel RAM? Is it wide enough?

I would Think So Bo, Considering they rate it for all DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 Modules.
And with them rating it to fit over a Reaper , it should cover even the Corsair Line of HeatSinks.

The height is fine, it’s just that having 3 sticks of RAM in alternating slots can be fairly spread apart. Would it cover all 3 RAM sticks?

I would be entirely not surprised if this didnt work for their reaper or reaperX modules…

sorry, slight re-phrase- the older reaper and reaperX modules, the overall height on my reapers are 65.5mm, not sure on my reaperX, as thats whats in the system at the moment, lol

Bo I couldn’t find anything definitive, if I do I will let you know.

Dragoon, it has a depth of 68mm from Base to Fans, so that would cover your reapers without a problem it would seem.
