Cooler, quieter, and faster, HIS’ spin on the AMD Radeon 7970 is the powerhouse ideal for the season’s biggest games.
Sporting a better cooler and Boost Clock technology, the HIS 7970 IceQ X² GHz Edition outperforms a standard 7970 in just about every way. HIS tested their card agaisnt a reference AMD 7970 to provide some numbers to show off their card’s power.
The 7970 IceQ X² GHz Edition has an 18% increase in current output over the reference card, and with the Boost Clock technology, the HIS card comes in at 1000MHz core clock speed and 1500MHz memory clock speed versus the AMD board’s 925MHz core / 1375MHz memory clock speed. As the name would suggest, they’ve also put in their IceQ X² cooling system which is up to 17°C cooler than the reference cooler. The card also features a pair of 89mm fans on top, three 6mm and two 8mm wide heatpipes, and a large 40mm x 47.5mm copper heatsink to keep the card nice and cool.
HIS has made things easy for overclockers by including their iTurbo overclocking software with the card – iTurbo’s fan control and fan monitoring allow easy adjustment of the card to its maximum cooling performance or to run the card quietly, plus with the smart auto overclocking function, users can experience a slight performance boost for the card with just one click.
The card was built to last – with an abundance of cooling, a 50,000 hour fan lifetime, and a dual BIOS just in case the first BIOS won’t work, HIS has ensured that the “ideal iPower card for Call of Duty: Black Ops II & Medal of Honor Warfighter” lasts when put to the test.
HIS 7970 IceQ X² GHz Edition cards in selected retailers will come with various free and discounted games, including Far Cry 3, Hitman, Sleeping Dogs and Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
