Aggregator of all things tech-rumor Fudzilla is reporting that Intel is planning to discontinue a number of their
processors that are only a year old.
The chips that are slated for the chopping block are the desktop Core i7 970, as well as the laptop chips Core i7 660UM ,Core i5 540UM, and Celeron U340.
Fudzilla says that boxed Core i7-970 will be delivered while supplies last, while Intel will sunset the rest of the chips by mid 2012.
It has been speculated that Intel is clearing their lineup in order to release new chips that will compete with AMD’s new models. What do you think?
