Intel has silently released the Core i7 960 LGA-1366 processor after the Core i7 965 EE was dropped to make room for the 975 flagship model.

The new model is identical to the 965 in most every respect, aside from the lack of Extreme designation, meaning no upwards unlocked multiplier.

Manufactured on the 45nm process it features four cores (eight with Hyper threading) that operate at 3.20GHz (24 x 133MHz) with a maximum Turboboost speed of 3.46GHz. It has 1MB of combined L2 cache and 8MB of L3 cache.

The chip is priced at $562USD /1000, the same price point as the i7 950, thus likely to replace the 950 as the midrange of the i7 9 series lineup.
