Biostar Microtech is a less well known name amidst the enthusiast circles. However that hasn’t stopped them from releasing some outstanding boards to compete with the better known manufacturers. Up today is their latest for AMD, the TA890FXE.
Based upon the newest 890FX and SB850 chipset the newest in Biostar’s stable looks poised to claim its share of the AMD Market. The board will be able to support the latest CPU from AMD up to a TDP of 140W, which the 6 phase PWM system should have no problems doing. As well much like most AMD boards there will be features for Core Unlocking included, something that has become a staple as of late.
Four PCI-E 16X slots are available, however due to their orientation you will only ever be able to fit two Dual Slot Cards which could be a hindrance to some users. Memory support is for DDR3-1800, with four slots available to be populated. SATA 6.0GB/s comes standard but no mention of USB 3.0 support.
Pricing and availability have yet to be determined at the time of this posting.
