With Intel’s new Core i5 and Core i3 products coming into being, motherboard manufactures seek to provide new solutions for the end user. Biostar looks to appeal to the growing HTPC market with their new TH55B HD Board.
Built into a MicroATX form factor the TH55B has many features which are more common on the higher end boards out there today. CPU support is for the latest in Intel’s stables, Core i5 and i3. Feeding the needs of these processors is a 5 Phase power delivery system that promises to allow for very good Overclocking according to Biostar.
Up to 16GB of memory is supported in Dual Channel Mode with the highest sustained speeds reported at being 2000mHz Overclocked. This should most users out there ample selection to their memory choices. Expansion comes in the way of a solitary PCI-e 16X slot, a single PCI-e 1X slot and two Legacy PCI locations. This is really standard fair for any mATX board out there with only a few exceptions.
With 6 Sata ports storage should not be a problem although this board is lacking the new USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 support.
