There was quite the kerfuffle this morning as annoucements poured in from various sources toting their latest sightings of Intel P55 and AMD 785G chipsets. With a major tech trade show ( COMPUTEX 09 ) drawing near, these are expected – but heck, we don’t need a half dozen separate articles for every single motherboard. So why not lump them all into one. So here it goes!
ASRock P55 Deluxe
First on the list we have the P55 Deluxe. It features an LGA-1156 supporting four dual channel DDR3 DIMMs at speeds of DDR3-2000. There are three PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots. Aswell, there appears to be advertised support for ATI CrossFireX, 3-way nVidia SLI. Additional features include six SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, eSATA connection, dual Gigabit Ethernet, onboard Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons and bundled extras include a PCIe x1 card with two USB 3.0 ports.
The next subject is the M3A785GXH/128M, which features the new AMD 785G + AMD SB710 chipset, supporting AM3+ socket CPUs up to 140W. It has four dual channel DDR3 DIMM’sofficially supprting DDR3-1600. It includes onboard video, courtesy of a Radeon HD 4200 IGP, which functions of the 128MB of SidePort memory, and connects using the typical DVI, VGA and HDMI. The board also supports CrossFireX, Hybrid CrossFireX and 3-Way.
Leveraging the power of AMD 785G and SB710 chipsets, ECS A785GM-M supports the latest 45nm AMD Phenom™ II processors, dual channel DDR3 1333MHz memory, and ATI Hybrid Graphics Technology. The integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 4200 graphics core designed for AMD’s mainstream desktop for Microsoft Windows® 7 is leading users to the stunning DirectX 10.1 gaming experience. Well designed cooling solution, 5 phase power design supporting up to 125W TDP processors, and the feature of all solid capacitors are all included in this board.
Based on the latest Intel P55 chipset, the new single-chip solution that brings performance tuning and advanced I/O capabilities while enabling a more power efficient platform, the P55H-A motherboard fully supports the upcoming Lynnfield processor delivering incredible speed and efficiency for faster multi-tasking, gaming and multimedia creation performance that takes your PC’s performance to the next level. For users eager for better graphics performance, ECS P55H-A features dual x16 PCIe 2.0 supporting “Auto-Gear Design” that can automatically provide single x16 or dual x8 PCIe bandwidth. Other features such as the support for Intel® Matrix Storage Technology, 14 x USB 2.0 ports, and 6 x SATA 3 Gb/s ports can also be found on this board.
ASUS M4A785-M EVO
Another mATX 785G, this time by Asus, is a little different as it is based on support for AM2+ CPU’s, rather than the new AM3 format. This limits it to the use of four DDR2 DIMM’s at supported speeds of 1200MHz. It boasts an onboard RV620 based IGP (HD4200) through DVI, VGA and HDMI which will work for smooth HD video playback using the UVD 2.0 Video decoder, as well as Hybrid Crossfire. Using the SB710 southbridge there is support for 5 SATA II Ports, and a sixth offered through eSATA, 12XUSB connections. The new platform, codenamed Pisces is toted to be able to easily outstripe the previous 780G generation, as well as combinations from competitors nVidia and Intel.
