There was quite the kerfuffle this morning as annoucements poured in from various sources toting their latest sightings of Intel P55 and AMD 785G chipsets. With a major tech trade show ( COMPUTEX  09 ) drawing near, these are expected – but heck, we don’t need a half dozen separate articles for every single motherboard. So why not lump them all into one. So here it goes!

ASRock

ASRock P55 Deluxe

First on the list we have the P55 Deluxe. It features an LGA-1156 supporting four dual channel DDR3 DIMMs at speeds of DDR3-2000. There are three PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots. Aswell, there appears to be advertised support for ATI CrossFireX, 3-way nVidia SLI. Additional features include six SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, eSATA connection, dual Gigabit Ethernet, onboard Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons and bundled extras include a PCIe x1 card with two USB 3.0 ports.

Another mATX 785G, this time by Asus, is a little different as it is based on support for AM2+ CPU’s, rather than the new AM3 format. This limits it to the use of four DDR2 DIMM’s at supported speeds of 1200MHz. It boasts an onboard RV620 based IGP (HD4200) through DVI, VGA and HDMI which will work for smooth HD video playback using the UVD 2.0 Video decoder, as well as Hybrid Crossfire. Using the  SB710 southbridge  there is support for 5 SATA II Ports, and a sixth offered through eSATA, 12XUSB connections. The new platform, codenamed Pisces is toted to be able to easily outstripe the previous 780G generation, as well as combinations from competitors nVidia and Intel.
