The Asus P7P55/USB3 is a fairly standard P55 LGA1156 motherboard for today’s average Intel system, except for one additional and very unique item. It features one of the first internal USB3 headers on a motherboard.
Up until now, USB3.0 has been limited to only the back I/O panel, forcing case manufacturers to include front panel connections that wire up to the back of the motherboard. Asus has included a second NEC USB chip on the board to allow for both internal and rear connections without speed loss.
The board should ring in at a fairly average P55 price tag and Asus says they intend to further their support of USB3.0 in upcoming motherboards.
Now if only someone could direct me to the actual devices that utilize USB3.0…
