84bWhen it comes to the cutting edge of technology ASUS has always been a leader in the industry. With USB 3.0 and SATA 6GB/s looming on the horizon it is only natural they announce a new wave of Motherboards supporting this technology; enter the P6X58D.

To many, this board is somewhat older news, as we first saw images back in July when it was originally announced. However at the time there were many issues with the controllers used for the onboard USB and SATA devices. With these issues now resolved however, ASUS is ready to release their latest Premium board to the masses.

Dominating the landscape is an intricate cooling arrangement, with massive heatsinks towering over the most important components.  Covering everything from the Southbridge to the VRM’s and connected by heatpipes ASUS insures cool operation. SATA connectivity is provided by a new Marvell controller that is responsible for the two white 6GB/s ports, while a NEC controller handles the blue USB 3.0 ports on the back panel. The other four blue SATA ports are rated for a nominal 3GB/s that is controlled through Intels ICH10R Southbridge.

A new 16 Phase power delivery circuit is responsible for fueling the Intel LGA1366 socket , this should provide plenty of stable power for those who enjoy overclocking. Six slots are provided for RAM modules, DDR3 triple channel naturally with support for up to 24GB. Three PCI-e slots come standard, electrically configured to run at 16x 8x 8x or 16x 16x depending on how many cards populate them giving a myraid of options to the end user.

With a Launch date said to be in November we can only wait in anticipation for this next generation of ASUS boards to hit retail shelves. Pricing however has not yet been released.
