ASRock is notorious for their often unique and quite brilliant additions to the motherboard marketplace; producing products that may have a limited consumer base, but are a godsend to those who need them.

While SATA III technology was officially released for full implementation earlier this year, few motherboard manufacturer’s have yet to adopt it. The upcoming P55 chipset would have been a great place to debut the 6Gb/s data transfer technology, but major names like Asus, Gigabyte and Intel could not be bothered to include it with their first releases.

ASRock on the other hand, has evidently seen the future and decided to embrace it by including an add-in card with it’s new P55 Deluxe board that includes two SATA III 6Gb/s internal slots, as well as an eSATA connector. It utilizes a Marvell controller and functions via the PCIex1 slot, not taking up much internal space. It is unknown as to whether the card will be release separately or if it can be used on non-ASRock boards.

Now consumers are just left with just one obstacle… finding SATA III devices.

Technically, it's 6Gb/s, for the sake of accuracy.

It's a nice touch, although considering that a PCI-E x1 slot is going to top out at 500MB/s, not including any overhead and the fact that the slot will likely be routed through the PCH, I'm not sure how practical it will turn out to be.
